Sample Exam Question 1 Essay: Practice

 Hello everyone! Today I will share my practice essay for question 1 of the AICE exam from my media class. The clip we used was from the movie "Agent Carter." The extract from “Agent Carter” focuses on the theme of women in the workplace and how they’re just as important and capabl e of completing the same tasks as men , as well as even going above and beyond . The clip repeatedly shows how women are undervalued and underappreciated . T he protagonist, who is a young woman, is constantly mistreated and more s ignificantly , misju dged.   To start with, the opening scene uses different camera shots to provide background information for the film. It shows a man who appears to be making an enormous sacrifice and it is clear that it is a meaningful moment for the protagonist. Hi! This week's blog post is about the different editing transitions and techniques used in film. I've chosen the opening of a classic 1995 movie: " Clueless " Here is the clip of the movie I've decided to analyze for different forms of editing: Here are some of the editing techniques I found: 1. Firstly, the editor uses a fade at 0:01 where the screen goes from black to the opening of the movie where the video network and company are displayed. This editing technique adds to the construction of meaning by help ing to seamlessly introduce the audience in a simple yet well-rounded way. By taking the viewers from the plain black color into the start of the film, the y’re encouraged to feel curious about the next scenes and how the film will begin.   2.
