Brainstorming & Storyboard!

Hi!

I'm super excited to share the brainstorming and storyboarding my group and I did for our opening scene.

Here is my storyboard of the first 30 seconds:

As for the brainstorming, my group and I decided to create an opening scene regarding an unstable patient and her therapist. The scene will include moments where what the patient is saying during voiceovers, does not align with what viewers see on the screen. We'll use lots of editing to accomplish this effect to make the inconsistencies in the patient's words look like "glitches" of the film. We decided the entirety of the opening scene would be shot at my house because the atmosphere looks less homely and more clinic-like due to its white and light blue walls and furniture. I'll be playing the unstable patient and Alexander will be playing the therapist. Because our film will be very dialogue-heavy, we made sure to plan out as many technical elements (without affecting the overall meaning of the clip) as we could. We'll be using many close-ups as well as wide shots, full shots, and overhead shots to add diversity. We'll include dutch angles to emphasize the disorientation of the patient. There will be voiceovers, sound effects, and diegetic sounds that add to the construction of meaning. Costumes and props will be relatively simple with the patient wearing casual clothing and the therapist wearing formal attire like a button-up and slacks while holding a clipboard. There will be many props to achieve the "unstable" effect on the patient like pill bottles. We'll include editing techniques like J-cuts and straight cuts. Of course, there will be many more technical elements, I've just mentioned the most significant ones!

Thank you so much for reading!
