Opening Scene Mood Board

Hello!

This week, I completed a mood board for my group and I's opening scene. Here it is:




In this mood board of my group’s opening scene, I’ve tried to capture the darkness and mystery surrounding the protagonists. I’ve included photographs of both a therapy clinic and a mundane house hallway. These settings, along with the photographs of the actors’ costumes, a regular everyday outfit, and a more formal collared shirt and slacks that a professional would wear, show how our opening scene will be surrounding a regular set of people. This will contribute to the situational irony of just how irregular the characters are in the opening scene. The lighting and color in all the photographs remain somewhat dark without any high-key lighting and utilize the color black regularly, only being lit by ambient lighting. The props displayed in the mood board are a clipboard, pills, and a dog bowl, all seemingly belonging as they add to the “everyday” routine of the protagonists.

Peer Reviewing Classmates' First Cuts!

 Hi! This week, I watched and reviewed, as well as provided some critique to my classmates' first cuts of their opening scenes. Here are my reviews: 1. I thought the camera shots, specifically the closeups of the protagonist's hands and piano, as well as the tracking shots of him walking add a intense feeling to the scenes. Editing Our Opening Scene #2

Hey everybody! This week we continued editing. We established a lot more this week in terms of fonts, titles, placements, effects, and transitions. Editing went more or less smoothly this week since we had solved the problems we encountered last week, allowing for a more cohesive editing session. Alexander and I worked together for about 2-3 hours on Monday and we accomplished a lot. We decided to use the font, "Monserrat-Light" because it's thin and simplistic. This adds a sense of neatness to the film and doesn't take away from the therapy clinic setting. Here is a photo of choosing the font title. As for colors, depending on the background we may use yellow because it ties into our film, red, or dark blue because they're all striking and noticeable colors.  For video effects, there will be several utilized including blurs to indicate a soft focus, and a glitch effect to portray the protagonist's unreliability.  For audio effects, we will have to input a lot...

Camera Shots and Angles!

Hi again! This week I learned about the different camera shots and angles there are. Here are some examples of my favorites: 1. I took an establishing shot at eye-level of my media studies classroom. 2. I took an over-the-shoulder shot at shoulder-level of my classmate reaching for and opening a book off the bookshelf. 3. I took a wide shot (WS) at knee-level of my classmates discussing a book and showcased the loneliness and separation of my classmates who sat farther away. 4. I took a medium-full shot (Cowboy shot) at a low angle of my classmate to attempt to make him seem superior. 5. I took a medium shot (MS)  at eye-level of my classmate eating in front of a "No Food, No Drinks" sign to showcase irony and comedic effect. 6.
