Challenges in Filming

 Hello! 


My group and I started filming last week and encountered some minor difficulties and challenges. I would say our biggest issues were:  

1. We weren’t able to film as much as we planned 

2. Distracting noises could be heard while we tried to film 

3. Constantly checking and directing what was filmed took a lot of time 


Firstly, we were together and filming for about 3 hours and only actually managed to film roughly the first thirty seconds of our opening scene. We had already had to reschedule once so when the four of us finally managed to get together and film, we were more ambitious than we should’ve been.  

Secondly, we filmed at my house, and although there wasn’t anyone else present, my two dogs were making a lot of noise. We tried locking them up in their crates (to no avail). But ultimately, the best solution was having one member, distract them and keep them quiet while we filmed.  

Lastly, the biggest issue was ensuring the scenes were coming out the way we envisioned. Our cameraman wasn’t always at the best angle or doing the proper shot type, so we had to do a lot of retakes, which took away from our filming time as well. Lighting wasn’t an issue because although the natural lighting had changed over time, my house lights have a dimming feature that allowed us to match the light from earlier.  

Everyone is thankfully pulling their own weight and helping in their own ways.

 Hi! This week, I watched and reviewed, as well as provided some critique to my classmates' first cuts of their opening scenes. Here are my reviews: 1. Editing Our Opening Scene #2

Hey everybody! This week we continued editing. We established a lot more this week in terms of fonts, titles, placements, effects, and transitions. Editing went more or less smoothly this week since we had solved the problems we encountered last week, allowing for a more cohesive editing session. Alexander and I worked together for about 2-3 hours on Monday and we accomplished a lot. We decided to use the font, "Monserrat-Light" because it's thin and simplistic. This adds a sense of neatness to the film and doesn't take away from the therapy clinic setting. Here is a photo of choosing the font title. As for colors, depending on the background we may use yellow because it ties into our film, red, or dark blue because they're all striking and noticeable colors.  For video effects, there will be several utilized including blurs to indicate a soft focus, and a glitch effect to portray the protagonist's unreliability.  For audio effects, we will have to input a lot...

Camera Shots and Angles!

Hi again! This week I learned about the different camera shots and angles there are. Here are some examples of my favorites: 1. I took an establishing shot at eye-level of my media studies classroom. 2. I took an over-the-shoulder shot at shoulder-level of my classmate reaching for and opening a book off the bookshelf. 3. I took a wide shot (WS) at knee-level of my classmates discussing a book and showcased the loneliness and separation of my classmates who sat farther away. 4. I took a medium-full shot (Cowboy shot) at a low angle of my classmate to attempt to make him seem superior. 5. I took a medium shot (MS)  at eye-level of my classmate eating in front of a "No Food, No Drinks" sign to showcase irony and comedic effect. 6.
