Editing Our Opening Scene

Hi again!

This week my group started the editing process of our opening scene!  

Here are some photos of Alexander editing on his laptop at home. 


Alexander is the only one who has been involved in editing so far as we haven’t been able to complete much progress on it. We do, however, have plans to meet up next week to discuss and assist each other in the editing process.

Some issues he’s faced with editing so far have been confusion with what order the clips go in, which clip is which, and finding a good editing software. We filmed the clips in a different order than where they go chronologically in the film to make the most use of time and facilitate the production process. However, due to this, Alexander had to review the script we wrote to ensure he placed the clips in the right order. He was also confused about which clip was which, so he watched each one and manually changed the file names so they’d be easier to locate. Additionally, he researched and was able to access the editing software CapCut, and has been working decently well.  

We can’t wait to have more development in our film and get closer to our end product through editing!

 Hi! This week, I watched and reviewed, as well as provided some critique to my classmates' first cuts of their opening scenes. Here are my reviews: 1. Camera Shots and Angles!

Hi again! This week I learned about the different camera shots and angles there are. Here are some examples of my favorites: 1. I took an establishing shot at eye-level of my media studies classroom. 2. I took an over-the-shoulder shot at shoulder-level of my classmate reaching for and opening a book off the bookshelf. 3. I took a wide shot (WS) at knee-level of my classmates discussing a book and showcased the loneliness and separation of my classmates who sat farther away. 4. I took a medium-full shot (Cowboy shot) at a low angle of my classmate to attempt to make him seem superior. 5. I took a medium shot (MS)  at eye-level of my classmate eating in front of a "No Food, No Drinks" sign to showcase irony and comedic effect. 6. All About Me!

Hello everyone! My name is Angela Rodriguez and I’m a senior at Hollywood Hills high school. In this first post, I’ll share some details about myself so you can get to know me and hopefully… you’ll enjoy keeping up with my journey in media studies! Here are some basic facts about myself: I’m 17 right now but I’ll turn 18 in May I was born in Havana, Cuba and came to the U.S. when I was 2 years old I’m taking the class “media studies” to complete my AICE and Cambridge course requirements but also because film is a form of literature I enjoy.
